Technology
What is IPXY?
IP stands for “International Protection,” which hints at the standard created by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). More commonly, it’s interpreted as “Ingress Protection.” The numbers following the letters indicate the level and type of protection.
The 'X' denotes dust protection: a scale from 0 to 6 represents the level of defense. Zero means no protection, while six indicates the highest level (dust won’t invade even with extended exposure).
The 'Y' represents liquid protection (ranging from 0 to 8). Zero means there's no waterproofing, while eight permits submerging the device in water up to 3 meters for 30 minutes.
