The result of a unique collaboration between the Van Gogh Museum and Bedding House is a special collection of bed linen. Each design is inspired by one of Vincent van Gogh's paintings. Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" is one of his most famous works worldwide. A rich symphony of varying shades of yellow, orange, and green. Van Gogh wanted to impress his friend Paul Gauguin with this series of decorative still lifes of sunflowers. These still lifes adorned the walls of Gauguin's bedroom. Van Gogh began the series with great enthusiasm. He had to paint quickly because the flowers in the vase quickly withered: "I paint with the enthusiasm of a Marseillais eating bouillabaisse [Provençal fish soup], which you won't be surprised at when it comes to painting large sunflowers." Gauguin believed the paintings were indeed very successful and stated that the sunflower was Van Gogh's signature motif. In 1889, Van Gogh again used this motif in a painting now in the Van Gogh Museum. This famous work by Van Gogh is imprinted on a duvet cover, appearing lifelike, with brushstrokes clearly visible.
