On its lowest setting, the flashlight can run for an impressive 17 days, assuming it's used for 5 hours each day. This feature puts it among the top performers in the standard flashlight category. Whether you're heading out for a solo hike or embarking on a multi-day expedition, one charge will last your entire adventure. The built-in Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 battery has a substantial capacity of 5000 mAh and comes included with the flashlight. Charging is convenient via the USB Type-C port.

The sturdy all-metal body is crafted from high-strength aluminum, which can withstand temperatures ranging from -35°C to +40°C. It holds an IP68 protection rating, safeguarding the electronics from dust and moisture ingress. The Fenix PD40R V3.0 can survive falls from up to 1.5 meters.

Fenix has also patented a one-handed switch feature. To avoid cluttering the device with unnecessary buttons, they've introduced a rotary mechanism for switching modes. This not only provides easier access to light but also enhances the flashlight's performance in industrial environments, even when subjected to strong magnetic fields. The switch design includes vertical strips to minimize finger slippage while toggling between settings.
