MSR Guardian Gravity Purifier — this water filter is designed specifically for those on the frontline, like military personnel in challenging environments. It effectively purifies heavily contaminated water from mechanical debris, microplastics, bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. Simply hang it up while you're busy at your base camp or during your outdoor adventures. Its spacious reservoir and impressive flow rate cater to the daily water needs of multiple people, making it an essential companion for any expedition. Built tough and compact when packed, this filter is perfect for any global journey.
Features
- The system includes a 10-liter dirty water reservoir, a hollow fiber filter cartridge with a pore size of 0.02 microns, hoses, clamps, and a bottle adapter. Although the filter allows for direct drinking, it’s much more hygienic to pour clean water into containers during group outings.
- This two-stage purifier features activated carbon that reduces unpleasant odors and chemicals to enhance water flavor.
- The cartridge can treat up to 3000 liters of water, which means you’re saving the planet from 3000 discarded plastic bottles.
- The 10-liter reservoir is easy to refill from taps or natural water sources, efficiently covering your daily requirements for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
- Clean-up is a breeze: no backwashing needed. A simple open-and-close on the rinse hose allows the system to be cleared and maintain flow rate.
- High flow speed: up to 1 liter every 2 minutes with an optimal hanging height of 1.8 meters — that's 2.5 times faster than the nearest competitor.
- This filter meets military testing standard NSF P248, removing viruses (99.99%), bacteria (99.9999%), protozoa (99.9%), mechanical debris, and microplastics from even the most contaminated water.
- The NSF P248 testing standard represents the highest level of scientific certification, confirming that the filtering device safely eliminates stated contaminants from difficult natural water sources. MSR Guardian devices are the only purifiers on the market passing virus removal tests under the military standard P248.
- Fulfills the standards and protocols set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Guide Standard and Protocol) for testing microbiological purifiers.
- Rugged military-grade construction.
- Includes a carry pouch.

First Use
Fill the reservoir with water and hang it up. Ensure that the clamps on both hoses are in the closed position. Connect the hose to the reservoir. Open the rinse clamp, let some water flow out, then close it. This removes carbon dust. Next, attach the clean water hose to a bottle and open the shut-off clamp.
After filtering, wipe down the exterior of the system, fold it, and stow it in the bag. Do not disassemble the system to prevent contamination. Avoid taking apart the cartridge to prevent it from drying out; it must remain moist inside. Don't drop or freeze the cartridge. If the fibers of the cartridge get damaged, its proper function can't be guaranteed.
